Mercedes-AMG Project One -- 1,000bhp , 217mph
No-one out of AMG has driven the Mercedes F1 car for the street known so far just as Project One, but its stats are suitably barmy to create the cut in this list. Revealed in time for its 2017 Frankfurt motor show, the supreme AMG promises to launch from 0-124mph in under six seconds, which means that thanks to its AWD hybrid grip, it'll get off the line as fast as a real F1 car. While, ideally, creating a much neater noise...
Apollo Intensa Emozione -- 769bhp, 208mph
The Apollo had us 'Batmobile-inspired styling'. Then it kept on winning us over with its 769bhp Ferrari-derived V12 and purist inspirations. The IE was created for monitor work only, but if all ten get sold, it'll fund a street car that'll hopefully look at least half as bonkers. That is exactly what supercars are about, right?
Dodge Demon -- 840bhp, 168mph
The very first road-certified mill car to be officially capable of wheelies (or even wheelstands, we assume ) is the Dodge Hellcat's more evil, quarter-mile-munching twin. It's a drag-race monster having an 840bhp supercharged V8 heart, and though that sub-170mph top rate is the cheapest in this list, the Demon's capacity to launch from 0-60mph at a verifiable 2.3 moments is as remarkable as it is barmy. A worthy addition to the annals of muscle car legend.
Koenigsegg Agera RS -- 1,340bhp, 277mph
It's not every year -- believe it or not -- that you get a new fastest car in the world. Many talk the talk, but few really set off in a straight line with timing gear and cameras on board to have the challenge. This year, Koenigsegg did just that on a closed road in Nevada, and averaged out 277mph in the process.
Bugatti Chiron -- 1,479bhp, 261mph (claimed)
Although we were first introduced to the new Bugatti Chiron at 2016, we weren't exposed to the full power of its 1,479bhp quad-turbo W16 before this season. And when that happened, any notions of the thing being only a reheated Veyron quickly vanished. As it's eventually unleashed with its limiter, the world will be watching.
Tesla Roadster -- n/a bhp, 250mph (claimed)
Making no noise whatsoever, on the other hand, is Tesla's first entrance into the supercar bear-pit. This 's fine though -- Twitter and internet forums make more than enough sound to compensate for your silence of electrical motors. If the new Roadster actually does see the light of day, we're promised a 620-mile range, functionality to embarrass a Bugatti, and for a relatively reasonable $200,000. It might be a utopian supercar. All Tesla must do is bring it to market in time.
